The first church built in Caughdenoy was near the dam, built by the Baptist in 1842. The earliest Leaders were Henry Waterbury and Anthony Youmans. The Baptist Church was purchased by the Methodist in 1857. Their name at that time was the Northport Methodist Episcopal Church. The first church built by the Methodists near the cemetery (across Route 12 from the current church) cost about $2,000 and was dedicated on December 6, 1880. In 1927, electric lights were installed. In 1945 the church was remodeled and on July 15, 1945 the church was rededicated. Sadly, the new interior had a short life as fire destroyed the entire building on December 20, 1945.
The present church, on the corner of County route 3 and 12, was built in 1948 on land donated by Fred Hall. The formal opening day was Sunday, September 18, 1949 by Rev. Carlton Frazier (minister at that time). Pews were added in 1952. The back lower section, Sunday School and offices, were built and dedicated on October 17, 1965.
In 1962 Cub Scout Pack 9 started meeting in Caughdenoy Methodist Church and in 1964 Caughdenoy Methodist Church sponsored Boy Scout Troop 9 which later turned to Boy Scout Troop 709. This troop is still going strong and in July on 2021, they will have completed 600 consecutive months of camping.
Caughdenoy Methodist Church is also a long supporter of Girl Scouts with various troops from Brownies to Seniors. The first troop was Brownie troop 78 in 1960.
In 1982, an community outreach was started offering children ages 3 & 4 a Christian based education called Sunny Days Nursery School. Sunny Days is the longest running nursery schools in area.
In 2023 Caughdenoy UMC disafiliated with Methodist Church organization. They became an independent church and renamed to Caughdenoy Faith & Family Church
